Update From Our Nepal Fundraiser
To all our wonderful donors: we knocked our $3,000 goal out of the park!
Thanks to your generosity, we raised nearly double our funding goal in just two weeks, so this past week Globe Aware delivered direct emergency aid to impacted communities. Led by Country Coordinator Rahul Gupta, our Nepal team launched a targeted three-day Flood Relief Camp.
We look forward to sharing full photos and videos from the site! However, to allow our team time to navigate limited internet connectivity, travel to their respective homes, and rest, we are waiting on the final reports and media!

On August 26th, a sudden flash flood struck Nepal, triggered when tons of bedrock and glacial ice collapsed high in the mountains. A terrifying surge of fast-moving mud, ice, and boulders rushed down the Trishuli River corridor, rising to 9 meters in just 30 minutes.
The widespread destruction swept away or damaged thousands of homes, affecting over 84,000 people across six districts. More than 1,300 lives were tragically lost, thousands remain missing, and countless families were left without shelter, clean water, or livelihoods.
Flood Relief Camp (Nepal Update Cont.)
In response, our on-the-ground coordinator, Sahil, surveyed the hardest-hit areas along the river to assess the damage directly, speaking with residents and learning their immediate needs.
The crew set out to support flood-affected families with emergency ration distributions, on-site medical aid, a community lunch, and clothing and footwear for individuals who lost their belongings.
The team put together by Rahul:

Allocation of funds:
- 50%: Emergency Food Packets
- 15%: Community Lunch Programs
- 15%: Operational Costs (permissions, transport, local staff)
- 10%: Essential Medicines & Medical Aid
- 10%: Clothes & Shoes
And here was the camp’s proposed three-day schedule:
Day 1: Preparation
Identification of affected families (target: 50 families).
Sourcing of materials for distribution.
Day 2: Ration Distribution & Community Lunch
Ration distribution to 50 families. Each package includes: 20 kg wheat flour, 10 kg rice, 5 kg lentils, 2 liters cooking oil, spices, salt, sugar, tea leaves, and essential medical supplies.
Community lunch for an estimated 500–1,000 people who lost their homes and belongings
Day 3: Clothing Distribution & Wrap-Up
Distribution of T-shirts and shoes to 100 people (target: 100 individuals).
Camp pack-up and onward travel to additional flood-affected sites in Nepal.

A Surprise in Thailand!
New Uniforms for Chiang Mai!
Longtime Globe Aware volunteer Don Germaise has been supporting our Chiang Mai project for years, giving his time and raising funds for the more than 200 children living at the home, many of whom are survivors of human trafficking or fleeing conflict in neighboring Myanmar.
During his visit this year, Don accompanied the children to a local soccer tournament and noticed something heartbreaking: they were the only team without matching uniforms, and they had no spectator section to cheer them on.
While Don typically funds essential infrastructure, like a water filtration system and a clothes dryer, his family decided to offer a more personal gift this year. The family sponsored brand-new soccer uniforms for all the young players, which were officially presented during a celebration!
It Takes Two To Kenya!
This past month, volunteers Kevin and Andrea were pouring their hearts into hands-on service in Kenya. Their days were filled with baking fresh bread for locals, teaching and encouraging young students in the classroom, and even introducing them to Spanish!
Their primary project was constructing a home for a local family. They had been forced to vacate their residence and were staying at a church. This new structure will serve a vital purpose: providing a safe, transitional shelter as families secure permanent housing. Thanks to the dedication of volunteers like Kevin and Andrea, families now have a secure, warm roof over their heads as they rebuild.
At the end of the incredible week, Kevin and Andrea had one more unforgettable moment: they officially announced they were expecting a baby!
